Over 35 OAM recipients met at Ca Marche Restaurant, Cassegrain Winery to celebrate the achievement of Margaret Roberts and Sister Marjorie McLachlan.
John Ross OAM, Order of Australia Association convenor for the Hastings-Macleay region said he was delighted to be able to welcome new members to the group. Ron Sharpe, OAM NSW chairman, journeyed north from Ettalong to attend.
During the proceedings, Bob Charley OAM recited some inspiring verse from Banjo Patterson and later Barbara and Laurie Smith OAM entertained the guests with tales of the past four Olympic Games where they have volunteered to assist the Australian Olympic team.
The group is keen to acknowledge anyone who has contributed to the community and deserves recognition and would like to have their name put forward.
"Normally this is done by someone close to the recipient as most people are very humble about nominations and awards," Mr Ross said.
"The depth of volunteer hours and commitment this group has achieved over a lifetime of commitment in their field is hard to estimate. If you know of someone who has received an Officer of the Order (AO); Member of the Order (AM); Medal of the Order (OAM) and would like to join the group, contact John Ross at johnross@rossgroup.com.au.
