Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie took students and teachers on tour of Parliament House and were given a special inside look at the Prime Minister’s court yard.
Soon after the 69 students and four teachers from Wauchope assembled in the courtyard, Prime Minister Tony Abbott appeared to the surprise and delight of the kids.
Teacher Jim Moodie who has been a regular supervisor of school excursions to Canberra congratulated Dr Gillespie on arranging the special visit.
“It was really something very special for all the kids. Not many them will get to meet a Prime Minister, especially in their courtyard.
“They’ll remember this for the rest of their lives. I’ve been coming down for quite a few years now and I’ve never had this opportunity.
“It was real treat,” Mr Moodie said.
