The day provides a chance to thank our local school teachers for their extraordinary work, and the lengths they go to to provide a safe learning environment for our children.
At Wauchope Public School, the P&C Committee will be hosting a morning tea, while others will present awards at special assemblies.
In other school news, several public schools in the Oxley electorate have benefitted from a record $113 million in additional funding announced by the state government last week.
Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey explained that the "needs-based funding is delivering more funding to students in a fair and transparent way".
"This needs-based funding can be used in a variety of ways, including employing speech pathologists or specialist teachers to target learning areas," Ms Pavey said.
"This substantial ongoing investment in public education is fantastic news for our schools, and will further boost their efforts to deliver improved student results."
Local schools to receive the funding include Comboyne Public School and Wauchope Public School.
Comboyne will receive $84,645, an increase of $24,285 on 2015, while Wauchope will receive $723,969, which is an increase of $139,110 on this year.
